Horse Racing Radio Network (HRRN), the Eclipse Award-winning broadcast organization based in Lexington, KY and official radio home of the Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup World Championships, announced Thursday their inaugural “Saturdays at Gulfstream” series concludes this weekend with exclusive live coverage of the historic Florida Derby (G1). The Sir Shackelton Stakes, Orchid Stakes (G3), Honey Fox Stakes (G2) and the Pan American Stakes (G2) will also be featured during the three-hour broadcast. Sunrise Stallions’ Big Brown, winner of the 2008 Florida Derby, will be the presenting sponsor of the coverage. He stands at Dutchess Views Farm in Pine Plains, New York.

Cupid joined the Ultimate Kentucky Derby Poll presented by Brisnet.com at No. 7 with his front-running 1 1/4-length victory over Whitmore in Saturday’s $900,000 Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park. But there was hardly agreement on the light gray’s chances in the May 7 Kentucky Derby, with the Bob Baffert-trained Cupid ranked everywhere from No. 2 to No. 19 by the panel of 13 noted handicappers, turf journalists and analysts.

Unbeaten Mohaymen remains the dominant No. 1 pick, getting all the top votes with the exception of two for No. 2 ranked Nyquist, the unbeaten 2-year-old champion whom he’ll meet in the April 2 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park.

Shagaf’s victory against the speed bias in Saturday’s Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct encouraged voters to put Shadwell Stable’s 3-for-3 into the top 10 of the Ultimate Kentucky Derby Poll presented by Brisnet.com, but not enough to move dislodge the clear leaders: unbeaten Mohaymen, undefeated 2-year-old champion Nyquist, Mor Spirit and the Fair Grounds’ Risen Star winner Gun Runner.
