Horse Racing Radio Network (HRRN), the Eclipse Award-winning broadcast organization based in Lexington, KY, announced Thursday they have reached an agreement with Yahoo! Sports Radio to carry the networks broadcasts of the 2014 Triple Crown on more than 70 Yahoo! Sports Radio affiliates across the United States.
For the fourth consecutive year, HRRN will provide exclusive radio coverage of the 140th Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands on Saturday May 3 live from Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY. HRRN has been the exclusive radio partner of the Preakness Stakes since 2008 and will once again originate coverage of the “middle jewel” live from Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, MD on Saturday, May 17 before returning to Belmont Park in Elmont, NY for the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 7.
HRRN has scheduled more than 30 hours of on-site Kentucky Derby and Triple Crown related coverage with live Derby week coverage beginning the morning of Wednesday, April 30 with HRRN’s popular Derby Countdown Show hosted live from Churchill Downs.
Each of HRRN’s Triple Crown broadcasts will air live from 5:00-7:00 p.m. ET.
“The addition of the Yahoo! Sports Radio affiliates will significantly enhance our distribution of the broadcasts and allow us to expose these premier events to an even greater audience across the country. We are thrilled to have them on board,” said Mike Penna, President of HRRN.
“We are really excited to partner with HRRN to air the Triple Crown on Yahoo! Sports Radio. The races are unique, exciting content — and we have gotten great response from our affiliates,” said David Gow, CEO of Yahoo! Sports Radio.
In 2013, listeners in 140 countries and all 50 states made HRRN their home for live racing coverage.
