HRRN BEGINS FULL SLATE OF KENTUCKY DERBY WEEK PROGRAMMING LIVE FROM CHURCHILL DOWNS TUESDAY


Horse Racing Radio Network (HRRN), the award-winning broadcast organization based in Lexington, Kentucky and official radio home of the 2019 Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup World Championships announced today they will broadcast live from Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY beginning Tuesday, April 30th with extensive week-long coverage of the 145th Kentucky Oaks (G1) and Kentucky Derby (G1).   

HRRN’s Derby week schedule begins Tuesday morning with the first of three “Derby Countdown” shows presented by Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm.  Hosted from HRRN’s Red Brand broadcast tent on the backside of Churchill Downs, the Countdown shows air live from 8:00-10:00 a.m. ET Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings on Sirius 216/XM 203 with live streaming and podcast archives provided on the HRRN website, www.horseracingradio.net.  Local listeners can also tune in on HANK 96.1 FM in Lexington.  WLCL 93.9 FM in Louisville will air the Derby Countdown show on taped delay each day beginning at noon ET.  Bobby Neuman and Jude Feld will host the shows which feature interviews with owners, trainers, jockeys and handicappers along with the latest training updates on Oaks and Derby horses.

 

On Friday, HRRN commences Oaks day coverage with a special edition of the network’s weekly handicapping show, the NYRA Bets Weekend Stakes Preview, at 3:00 p.m. ET followed by exclusive coverage of the 145th Kentucky Oaks, presented by Twinspires.com at 4:00 p.m. ET on Sirius 219/XM 201 with live streaming available at www.horseracingradio.net.

 

Kentucky Derby day kicks off with a special Derby day edition of HRRN’s popular Saturday morning talk show, the Equine Forum presented by Farmpaint.com, in its weekly time slot 8-10 a.m. ET followed by live Kentucky Derby undercard coverage presented by Twinspires.com from 2-5 p.m. ET, both on   Sirius 219/XM 201

 

The network’s Derby week programming culminates with exclusive coverage of the 145th Kentucky Derby from 5:00-7:30 p.m. ET, produced in partnership with NBC Sports and Westwood One.  Coverage can be heard on Sirius 219/XM 201 and simulcast on Mad Dog Radio, along with terrestrial affiliates around the country. 

 

All Oaks and Derby day broadcasts will also be available via live streaming provided at www.horseracingradio.net

Mike Penna will anchor the Oaks and Derby day coverage along with analysts Kurt Becker, Jeff Bloom, Tom Leach, Bobby Neuman and Dan Mason.  Three-time Derby winning jockey and Hall of Famer Gary Stevens will join to broadcast Saturday afternoon with daughter Maddie Stevens providing interviews from the Red Carpet.  NBC announcers Larry Collmus and Churchill Downs caller Travis Stone will provide live race calls.
