HRRN AND KEENELAND SALES PARTNER TO CELEBRATE ‘ZENYATTA WEEK’ LEADING UP TO 40th BREEDERS’ CUP

 

LEXINGTON, KY (October 28, 2023) – Horse Racing Radio Network (HRRN), the award-winning broadcast organization based in Lexington, KY, announced today they will pay tribute to 2016 Hall of Fame inductee and two-time Breeders’ Cup Champion Zenyatta beginning Monday, October 30.  

 

HRRN’s special ‘Zenyatta Week’ presented by Keeneland Sales, will celebrate Zenyatta’s remarkable achievements on all HRRN shows throughout Breeders’ Cup week.  The network’s listeners and social media followers will be treated to replays of her biggest wins along with interviews and conversations looking back on her racing career.  Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith is scheduled to appear on HRRN’s Breeders’ Cup Countdown show Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. PT (11:30 a.m. ET) and trainer John Shirreffs remembers Zenyatta on HRRN’s Equine Forum show Saturday, November 4 at 9:00 a.m. ET.

Bred in Kentucky by Maverick Production, Limited and owned by Jerry and Ann Moss, Zenyatta was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Moss for $60,000 from the Winter Quarter Farm consignment at the 2005 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Trained by John Shirreffs, Zenyatta accumulated career earnings of more than $7.3 million while winning the first 19 races of her career, before finishing second to Blame in her final career start, the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Classic at Churchill Downs. She followed her victory in the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic with a breathtaking stretch run to defeat the boys in the Breeders’ Cup Classic the following year.
