148th TRAVERS BROADCAST LIVE FROM SARATOGA ON HRRN SATURDAY
Coverage Presented by Sunrise Stallions, Visitbarbados.org and Breeders’ Cup
Horse Racing Radio Network (HRRN), the Eclipse Award-winning broadcast organization based in Lexington, Kentucky and official radio home of the U.S. Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup World Championships, announced Friday, they will broadcast the 148th running of the $1.25 million Travers Stakes (G1) presented by NYRA Bets, live from Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, NY. The Travers coverage, presented by Sunrise Stallions, continues the Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” series and HRRN’s popular “Saturdays at Saratoga” run, sponsored by VisitBarbados.org.
The “Mid-summer Derby” broadcast begins at 3:00 PM ET with the $500,000 H. Allen Jerkens (G1) for three-year-olds at seven furlongs. The $600,000 Forego (G1) at the same distance for older horses will follow. Then the mile and one-half, $1,000,000 Sword Dancer (G1) will be run on the turf. Saturday afternoon’s classic event, the $1.25 million Travers (G1), with all three winners of the Triple Crown races entered to run, has a scheduled post time of 5:44 PM ET.
Host Mike Penna will be joined by analyst Jude Feld and roving reporter Anthony Stabile on the coverage, with Saratoga track announcer Larry Collmus providing all the race calls. The broadcast airs throughout North America on Sirius108/XM201 along with terrestrial affiliates across the country and will be streamed live on the HRRN website, www.horseracingradio.net.
HRRN’s popular weekly talk show, the Equine Forum, kicks off this weekend’s coverage, featuring interviews and reports pertinent to the massive slate of stakes and discussion of industry news. Saturday’s guests include Winstar
President/CEO and Racing Manager Elliott Walden, Eclipse Thoroughbred Partner’s Aron Wellman, Hall of Fame jockey Ramon Dominguez, Tim Wilkin from the Albany Times Union, Eric Barlund from Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Breeders’ Cup’s Pete Rotondo and NBC’s Nick Luck.
