Equine Forum Podcast – October 29th 2011

Today’s show is all about the 28th Breeders’ Cup World Championships.  In hour 1, Mike Penna is joined by Jude Feld who calls in live from Churchill Downs with the latest on Breeders’ Cup works, and Jim Gluckson calls in to talk about the new developments with this year’s Breeders’ Cup.  In hour 2, John Gasper (Vinery) joins Mike in studio to handicap Keeneland’s Fayette Stakes and look ahead to next weekend at Churchill Downs.  Plus, Mike Willman, Santa Anita Director of Publicity previews the California based contenders.

HRRN ANNOUNCES 20 HOURS OF LIVE ON-SITE BREEDERS’ CUP COVERAGE

Horse Racing Radio Network (HRRN), the Eclipse Award-winning broadcast organization based in Lexington, KY, announced Thursday it will provide 20 hours of Breeders’ Cup coverage live from Churchill Downs beginning Tuesday, November 1.

For the third consecutive year, HRRN will host its popular Breeders’ Cup Countdown Show live from the Churchill backside on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings from 8-10 a.m. ET. The Breeders’ Cup Countdown features interviews with jockeys, trainers, owners, handicappers, and various industry professionals, as well as real time reports as Breeders’ Cup contenders appear on the track.

HRRN returns Friday and Saturday afternoon with nationwide coverage of every Breeders’ Cup race. Coverage of Breeders’ Cup Friday can be heard from 4:00-8:00 p.m. ET, and Saturday’s broadcast will air from 1:00-7:30 p.m. ET.

HRRN’s race coverage will be available on affiliates throughout the country, while fans can tune-in to the Breeders’ Cup Countdown Shows on HRRN affiliates in Lexington and Louisville, KY. All Breeders’ Cup week broadcasts will also be streamed live on the HRRN website, www.horseracingradio.net.

HRRN’s Eclipse Award-winning broadcast team will be anchored by HRRN President, Mike Penna, along with analysts Kurt Becker and Jude Feld, with paddock interviews and commentary provided by Sean Clancy and Roy Steele. Michelle Penna and Lee Dellapina will produce.

KEENELAND’S FALL STARS WEEKEND TO BE BROADCAST LIVE ON HRRN

Saturday coverage to include contest offering set of 6 Breeders’ Cup tickets

Horse Racing Radio Network (HRRN), the Eclipse Award-winning broadcast organization based in Lexington, KY, will broadcast live from Keeneland Race Course this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with coverage of eight graded stakes races to be contested on Fall Stars Weekend.

Fans can tune in to Friday’s coverage of the Darley Alcibiades (G1) and Phoenix (G3) from 5:00-6:00 ET.  On Saturday, HRRN returns with a two-hour broadcast of the Turf Mile (G1), Breeders’ Futurity (G1), First Lady (G1), and Thoroughbred Club of America (G2) from 4:00-6:00 ET, and on Sunday will showcase the Spinster (G1) and Bourbon (G3) from 5:00-6:00 ET.

All three broadcasts, presented by AmWest Entertainment, will be aired on select HRRN affiliates and streamed live on the HRRN website, www.horseracingradio.net, with Saturday’s coverage also being aired on Sirius 93.  A complete list of affiliates and upcoming broadcast schedule can be found on the HRRN site.

Mike Penna will anchor the coverage along with analyst Jude Feld.  Duane Amos will provide paddock commentary.

In addition to the live race coverage, HRRN will host a special Fall Stars Weekend edition of their popular Equine Forum Show live from Keeneland.  The Equine Forum can be heard from 8-10 a.m. ET on 96.1 FM in Lexington, KY, as well as on the HRRN website.

JOCKEY CLUB GOLD CUP & PRIX DE L’ARC DE TRIOMPHE LIVE ON HRRN THIS WEEKEND

Coverage to include Vosburgh, Beldame, Turf Classic, & Flower Bowl Invitational

Horse Racing Radio Network (HRRN), the Eclipse Award-winning broadcast organization based in Lexington, KY, will provide live coverage of nine grade and group 1 races this weekend.

On Saturday, HRRN will broadcast live from Belmont Park with a three hour Super Saturday broadcast featuring the Jockey Club Gold Cup, Vosburgh, Beldame, Turf Classic, and Flower Bowl Invitational from 3:00-6:00 ET. On Sunday, fans can tune-in to HRRN’s coverage of four group 1 races from Longchamp Race Course, including the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe from 8:30-10:30 a.m. ET. The coverage is presented by AmWest Entertainment.

The broadcasts are part of HRRN’s “Road to the Breeders’ Cup” series of broadcasts which includes live on-site coverage of Keeneland’s Fall Stars weekend, October 7th, 8th, and 9th, as well as the QE II Challenge Cup on October 15th.

Saturday’s Jockey Club Gold Cup broadcast can be heard on select HRRN affiliates as well as on Sirius 94, while Sunday’s coverage of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe will be carried on Sirius 93 – XM 209. HRRN Reaches Agreement to Broadcast 2011 Triple Crown

Horse Racing Radio Network (HRRN), the Eclipse Award-winning broadcast organization based in Lexington, KY, announced today they have reached an agreement with all three Triple Crown racetracks for HRRN to provide the national radio broadcast of the 2011 Triple Crown.  Having reached an agreement with Churchill Downs Incorporated, HRRN will provide the exclusive broadcast of the 137th Kentucky Derby on Saturday May 7th, before moving on to Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, MD for the 136th Preakness Stakes on Saturday, May 21st, then traveling to New York for the final jewel in the crown, the 143rd Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 11th.

Having broadcast the Preakness Stakes since 2008 and providing national coverage of the Belmont Stakes three of the past four years, HRRN will broadcast the Kentucky Derby for the first time in 2011.

HRRN has scheduled 30 hours of Triple Crown coverage beginning Wednesday, May 4th with their popular Derby Countdown Show hosted live from Churchill Downs.  In addition, HRRN will broadcast several major prep races starting with the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby on Saturday, March 12th.
