ABOUT
THE SHOW
Pete
Kules, “The Doctor of Trackside Commentary”, and Mike Penna, “The
Baron of the Backstretch”, are taking equine industry radio coverage
to new heights with their weekly talk show, The Equine Forum.
Formerly known as “From the Backstretch to the Winner’s Circle”, the
program is the longest continuously airing radio program on
Thoroughbred Racing in America, spanning more than 18 years.
Since May of 2003, the Equine Forum has provided listeners
throughout Central Kentucky with informative discussion covering the
hottest topics in the horse industry with special guests and
listener feedback. By focusing primarily on issues such as jockey
insurance, medication, casino gambling, and major horse sales, the
show has established a unique niche and following that has helped
make it the signature radio program of the equine industry in the
horse capital of the world.
The show can be heard every Saturday morning from 8 to 10 a.m. EST,
on WLXO 96.1FM in Lexington, KY. Out of town listeners can now
access the show anywhere in the world via podcast.
In June of 2005, Mike and Pete launched an exciting new endeavor
when they began to establish a Horse Racing Radio Network. In 2007,
the duo significantly expanded the network and will cover more than
180 stakes races from many of the nation’s most historic racetracks
– Arlington, Belmont, Calder, Churchill Downs, Ellis Park, Fair
Grounds, Gulfstream, Keeneland, Saratoga, and Turfway Park. Each
broadcast features pre and post race interviews and analysis as well
as the live call of the races.
