This week, I embark on the dusty trail to the Kentucky Derby (G1). It is exciting, invigorating and grueling all at the same time and I love it. It is fantastic to see the majority of America’s top three-year-olds up close and personal as they prepare for their run for the roses and possible Triple Crown immortality.

Sean Clancy caught up with bloodstock agent Tom McGreevy for an article about Fox Hill Farm’s Havre de Grace (who he picked out) in next month’s Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred. It was one of those conversations that wound up being 45 minutes long and over 2,000 words. We thought you might enjoy it.
HRRN makes our first stop at the Texas Roadhouse in Lexington for today’s show. Hosts Mike Penna & Jude Feld visit with trainer Graham Motion in hour 1, and Brisnet’s Ed DeRosa and Oaklawn’s Rolly Hoyt join the show in hour 2 to discuss Derby contenders and preview Monday’s G3 Southwest Stakes. Plus, Roy Steele from horsewhispererusa.com gives his selection of the day in our “Helping You Win More” segment.

However, over the past decade or so I noticed that this rate continued to creep up. Read more

Slam. It’s always the door I hear first. From the far end of the house. I don’t hear feet, no voice, no anything. Other than the door. Slam. He always slams the door. Then I hear his feet. Patter. Patter. Patter. Like a chicken across a bowling alley.
HRRN makes our first vist to the University of Kentucky Gluck Equine Research Center. Mike & Jude discuss various equine issues and preview the Kentucky Equine Survey with special guests: Dr. Jill Stowe, Dr. Bob Coleman, Dr. Ray Smith, and Dr. Mats Troedsson. Hour 2 features interviews with Natalie Heitz and Audrey Boslego from the UK Horse Racing Club, and jockey Julien Leparoux.
